Hey there News River readers,

Here's what you may have missed in the news lately:

  • A Cree woman from Maskwacis, AB leads the Red Ribbon Skirt Project which aims to sew 100 ribbon skirts for families of MMIWG.

  • The Lytton First Nation opened its Community Store – a huge step for the community still rebuilding from devastating fires 19 months ago.

  • Djab Wurrung, Gunnai and Gunditjamara senator for Victoria, Lidia Thorpe, started the new parliamentary year by cutting ties with the Greens party and committing to a black sovereignty-focused movement.

🚨 Launch Alert 🚨

We are pleased to announce the launch of our latest partner website, RISE: Queer Teacher Education!

This site exists to assist educators with providing welcoming, respectful, and inclusive learning environments to support 2SLGBTQ+ students and families, plus an emphasis on Indigiqueering education, which incorporates Indigenous knowledges and understandings of sexuality and gender.
